Pierre has now come out of support bill Bill S-210. The legislation would require Canadians to verify their age to access online porn. It has sparked a battle between groups on the right. Will it stop kids from accessing adult online porn?
The libertarians and people who just understand how government works are against government control on the internet. Their opposition is saying they need to protect kids from the dangers of online porn. You have to show ID to enter casinos and adult bars and buy firearms/alcohol/tobacco. Well, I think ID verification works in the physical world, but it will fail in the digital world.
Just look at the music and movie industry’s attempts at stopping online piracy of their content. They had government assistance and the money to go after the pirates. Streaming or downland this content has only gotten easier. The government will never get ahead of the technology, new sites can be created, and they will not have jurisdiction over other countries.
Just go onto Twitter/X and search for the letter “A”. You will not have to scroll long before you see porn. Porn is everywhere online from social media to video game chatrooms. If they manage to stop access to larger porn sites like Porn Hub, then this will only push kids to more obscure and dangerous sites.
These governments are losing control of messaging and communication when institutions are failing, and the financial Ponzi is collapsing. They need digital verification to regain control. They said they can bring it in through the guise of protecting kids online.
The only way to protect your kids is to limit or manage their devices and internet access. Our society is just starting to realize the negative effects this device has on kids’ development. Parents need to get informed and take control. If you truly want to protect your kids this will be the only way.
This is just another safe and effective two weeks to slow the curve that will move from online verification for a few sites, to many and Digital ID verification for all sites.
As the Conservative Party of Canada’s deputy PM said about UBI: It’s gonna come, it might be that by a differnt name. They haven’t shown me that care about protecting kids, but they have shown me they care about protecting their power and control.
