As we watch the collapse of mainstream media, or what I call welfare media, we get to watch the sad and delusional death thrones of the once-admired reporters and journalists. They all come across as people lost in a Stuart Smalley dream. Stuart was an SNL self-help character with the catchphrases I’m Good Enough, I’m Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!
I am sure they’re good people trapped in this welfare media prison of delusion and self-importance. I think they are a very silent minority. The “journalist” rightfully says how important journalism and truthful reporting are for society. The problem they’ve failed to realize is that most people no longer believe that welfare is that.
It doesn’t matter if it’s the “left” or “right” mainstream media, we are seeing through the lies and manipulation. They were hanging on with the boomers, but the COVID madness might have been the bullet that got them.
They’re desperately clinging to this last campaign of stopping misinformation and disinformation to try and keep them relevant. Intelligent people know that there is only information. It’s your job to listen to all the perspectives, facts, and opinions to distill what’s true. You have to understand people’s incentives and history.
As we watch them yell that the death of their journalism will bring the end of democracy, unchecked power, and corruption, I am caught asking, have they not looked at our society lately?
I was listening to a small podcast on Spotify when a CBC Gem ad came on. CBC has to advertise on the competition that’s replacing them. The Welfare media people and companies have been replaced.
They couldn’t be more proud of themselves for failing. They want to blame everyone else for what’s happening. I think their dream is not a nightmare.
